Robert S. Hicks

Robert S. Hicks is a Partner of Capstar Partners and serves as its President. Hicks is responsible for managing Capstar’s existing portfolio as well as evaluating new transactions and opportunities. Hicks serves on the board of directors of Harden Healthcare and is actively involved with DMX, Andrew Harper, and CPO Commerce. Hicks also oversees Capstar’s real estate portfolio, which includes a lodge and 1,800 acres of land in Big Sky, MT and several office buildings. Before joining Capstar Partners, Hicks co-founded and ran the finance department for CPO Commerce, an e-commerce company partnering with manufacturers to sell pre-owned consumer products. Hicks established and managed CPO’s finance and accounting procedures and oversaw its financial reporting, budget allocation, tax filing, and working capital management. Prior to co-founding CPO Commerce, Hicks served as Director of Business Development & Analysis for CLIX Network, Inc., an early stage venture providing digital music services. His responsibilities included sourcing and negotiating distribution partnerships as well as leading the Company’s financial analysis. Preceding his operating endeavors, Hicks was an investment banking analyst in the New York office of Credit Suisse. While at CSFB, he helped execute financing and M&A transactions in the media and telecom industries. Hicks also worked for Ritchie Capital, a $2.8BN multi-strategy hedge fund, and served in the convertible arbitrage and venture lending groups. Robert received his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a double major in Mathematics and Economics. Hicks is a chartered financial analyst and a member of the CFA Institute. Hicks is involved with a number of philanthropic organizations and serves on the board of directors of the Boys & Girls Club of the Austin Area.
